Anchors aweigh for Fanclub personnel association!

On Saturday 29 May the Fanclub personnel association organised a spectacular voyage for all the Fancom employees. The action took place on the waters of the Markermeer on board the 19thcentury, single mast clipper 'De Hoge Wier'.

Everyone at Fancom enjoyed the experience of a lifetime on board one of the fastest clippers in the Netherlands. The ship was built in 1899 as a cargo vessel and following a whole series of restoration projects is currently known as the Flagship of Muiden - racing to victory in all number of sailing competitions.

Early in the morning the whole 'crew' embarked in Muiden. Unfortunately the wind was very strong so it wasn't possible to sail deeper into the waters of the IJsselmeer. But that didn't detract from the spectacle of the trip, as the ship was forced to perform the tacking manoeuvre many times.

In the course of the afternoon the ship anchored at the Island Fort of Pampus, part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam. Everyone then enjoyed a guided tour of the fortress on this unique island.

This trip gave everyone a chance to enjoy an invigorating sea breeze and to get to know their colleagues in a different light. And they could now literally "Voor Pampus liggen" - this is a famous Dutch saying which means to be out for the count!
